We look after the eyes and ears of the community of Ilkley.
1. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
Working in the relatively elderly community of Ilkley, many of our patients are affected by of dementia. Increasing their levels of vision and hearing can reduce the fears associated with living with dementia and increase their sensory perception.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
Allocating enough time for all types of appointments, whether for sight tests, hearing tests, collections etc. Making sure there is room for both patient and carer. Being aware of the needs and possible additional fears experienced by patients with dementia.
